FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK
It is my profound joy and personal privilege to introduce you to Compassion Children Ministries (CCM). Established in 2005, CCM is not just a vision made real; it is a promise kept—a Trademark Certified and an ISO 9001:2015-certified NGO, operating from our head office at Kathikho Karong, Senapati, Manipur.
The story of CCM is, in many ways, my own story. I was born and raised in grinding poverty in the remote village of Khamsom, here in Manipur. As a son of the Poumai tribe, a descendant of Pao Prou, I inherited not only a rich culture but also the stark realities shared by so many of our tribal communities: hardship, low living standards, and the relentless blows of natural disasters. My family was often among the worst affected.
Poverty is a cruel teacher. It taught me lessons in being ill-treated, harassed, and molested—lessons in being made to feel less than human. I became, in the eyes of many, a throwaway boy, mentally shattered and socially rejected. As I grew, the obstacles and the pain only multiplied, accumulating in ways few can truly imagine.
Yet, I learned to shield that pain behind a smile. I learned to never surrender. Each trial I endured has become a cornerstone of the gratitude I hold for all I have today. Having faced some of the world’s worst treatment, I emerged not with a heart of stone, but with one softened—forged into greater compassion and love by the very suffering I wished to escape. My deepest resolve became to ensure others would not have to walk the same thorny path.
I have faced every challenge with whatever courage, grace, and serenity I could muster. Every failure has been met with a warrior’s heart, fighting not against the world, but for a better one. There have been stumbles, yes, but each return was fueled by a passion burning brighter than before. I refused to let the bitterness of yesterday cloud the promise of tomorrow. I am determined to move forward, to forge my own path, and to never again allow anyone or any circumstance to hold back the dream that took root in that suffering. I regret nothing. These experiences carved me into the man I am. All that trouble was a lesson. Every mistake is a lesson in humility and resilience. I learned from them so that others might not have to. I have known heartbreak, but it did not teach me to close my heart; it taught me that I, too, deserve love as deeply as I yearn to give it.
This is the spirit that birthed CCM in 2005. It is the spirit with which we have, since that day, dedicated ourselves to nurturing destitute, impoverished, and indigent-needy children through Education formation, Character formation, and Spiritual formation with the concept that even if we don’t have proper infrastructure, “We can give quality education under the shadow of trees.” For the past two decades, thousands of young lives have been touched and transformed. Today, my focus is refined: to pour our energy into those who share this sacred mission, to be wise in our trust, and to steadfastly hold the best interests of these children at the very center of all we do.
Our mission is clear, and it is my life’s purpose: “Nurturing the Children to Transform the World with Love and Peace.”
With sincerity and hope,
Dr. Robin Raomai Heni
